Kiessling is more than a restaurant; it's a tourist attraction. Established in the early 1900's by the chef of a disgraced German emperor, Kiessling was the first Western restaurant opened in the country. Decades ago, it was frequented by famous celebrities and political figures such as Dr. Sun Yat Sen, Deng Xiaoping and China's last emperor, Pu Yi. Today, Kiessling specializes in Russian and German fare, but the menu is loaded with French and Italian favorites as well.
Don't miss the German meat pie, the roast prawns with cream, or the borscht. Check out the good selection of pastries and breads.
