Fuzhou Panda World is located at Damengshan Hill in the west of Fuzhou, close by the peaceful West Lake 25 kilometers from downtown Fuzhou. Fuzhou Panda World is part of the Fuzhou Panda Research Center, which is a key base for the study and conservation of pandas in China which explores the reproductive life and physiology of giant pandas. The Centre is also home to other species of bear, numerous migratory birds and exhibitions of rare plants.
A variety of attractions and halls are open to visitors at Fuzhou Panda World, including a panda museum, Giant Panda Villa and Panda Art Hall where sculptures, photos, stamps, phone cards and craftworks which take the pandas as the theme can be browsed and bought. Non-panda related attractions include the Mengshan butterfly palace which recreates the environment of the southern tropical forest in which these insects thrive.
Panda World will move to the Jin'an District with the Fuzhou Zoo at the end of 2007
