Description

The Great Wall at the Huangya Pass was originally constructed in 556 during the Northern Qi Dynasty, and expanded during the Ming Dynasty. Located about 120km outside of Tianjin in Jixian County, the 3,025-meter-long section uses the steep mountain ridges as reinforcing structure.

The Huangya Pass has defense facilities like battle platforms and watch towers, border blockhouses, water gates and smoke mounds. Visitors are advised to get the early bus out. Buses depart from the North-east bus station and the Main Railway Station. A visit to this section of the wall can be combined with a visit to Mt. Pansha or Fort Dagukou.

Getting There:
Tianjin-based tourists can take bus 918 to the Great Wall at Huangya Pass. Beijing-based tourists can take the train to Jixian train station and then bus to the Great Wall at Huangya Pass, or go directly by bus.
