Guiyuan Temple is one of the most famous Buddhist temples in Wuhan. With deep religious significance and a striking architectural design, the temple houses a collection of items including 500 gilded Arhats, a jade Buddha, rare sutras, paintings, calligraphies and religious paraphernalia.
The temple is today still used as a prayer center. Amitabha, Kwan-Yin Bodhisattva, Dashizhi Bodhisattva, the Wenshu Bodhisattva and Puxian Bodhisattva are worshiped near the northern courtyards, while Sakyamuni is prayed to in the central hall. In the central courtyard stands the Daxiong Baodian, said to be Sakyamuni in the form of a lion.
