Description

Located in the mid-part of Longquan Street with a century-long commercial history, Xinjiang Folk Custom Street displays a fine array of the distinctive ethnic styles of the area and beyond. There are six floors over five buildings, mainly displaying Islamic, Chinese and Western culture.

The '' street '' consists of several distinct sections, including ''Ethnic Dining Street'', ''Ethnic Folk Custom Street '', '' Eurasia Commodity Street'' , ''Jewelry Street'' and also four pedestrian streets. It not only has the largest trading market for rare stones and jade in Xinjiang but also an antique market and an ethnic dining hall covering 3,000 sq.m..

The '' Street'' also features a miniaturized landscape of Xinjiang constructed accurately to a scale of 1:50,000. You can also find the Xinjiang Folk Custom Museum here, and peruse its exhibitions of over 4,000 cultural relics from the 13 largest minorities in Xinjiang. Displays include traditional clothes, ancient Uygur musical instruments and other displays which demonstrate the history, culture and life of Xinjiang.

There is also a Bazaar of ethnic handicrafts: and visitors can see the making of traditional products such as silk and carpets.
