Description

The Tainlongshan Grottoes in Tianlong Mountain 40 kilometers outside Taiyuan are a series of 21 caves, in which over 500 Buddhist sculptures dating back to the Eastern Wei Period, Qi, Sui and Tang Dynasties have been carved.

The area is also home to the wooden Manshan Pavilion, standing 10 meters high on the side of the mountain where a beautiful stone statue of the Buddha stands on a lotus flower with a patch of blue sky on his head. The area also has a series of delicate frescos.

Getting There: Take van from the Gate of Jin Temple (RMB 30-40)
