Description

Approximately 80 kms. northwest of Shijiazhuang, Xibaipo Village played an important role as a communist base for Chinese leaders who eventually reshaped the country. From 1947 to 1948, Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and Zhu De led the northern campaign against the Kuomintang from this village. Today, the village receives many visitors who are eager to see the headquarters of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and the People's Liberation Army.

Although the original site was submerged when Gangnan Reservoir was constructed, a replica of the village was erected nearby in 1977 and opened to the public in 1978. Xibaipo covers an area of 16,440 square meters and is one of the key relics under state protection. In the site, the old houses of Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and Zhu De can be found as well as the operational chamber of the Military Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

Getting There: Trains depart from Shijiazhuang North Railway Station. Travelers can also reach Xibaipo Village by bus. The bus station is located near the North Railway Station.
