Like an exquisitely carved "crystal palace", the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center is at the south end of the city's downtown area. It is the landmark building of Shenzhen's sparkling new CBD, merely 1,000 meters away from City Hall and only 15 minutes' drive from the Shenzhen Railway Station and 30 minute from the airport. Subway Lines 1 and 4 also meet at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center station, which is only 150 meters away through an underground passage, providing excellent transport services to and from the Center.
It is the largest single building in Shenzhen, covering about 220,000 square meters and standing up to 60 meters, including 6 floors above ground level and 2 floors beneath. The Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center has nine exhibition halls on the first floor, with total exhibition space of 105,000 square meters, or enough for a large exhibition of 5,000 international-standard booths. The largest hall is around 30,000 square meters. The Center also has 25 meeting rooms of different sizes and a function hall to accommodate about 3,000 people. The Center is multi-functional and along with hosting exhibitions and conventions, it also offers business activities, restaurants and entertainment. Famous events like the China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF), the China Electronics Fair (CEF) (Spring Edition), and the China (Shenzhen) International Automobile Exhibition are held annually in the center.
