Sponsored by the Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administrative Commission and VNU Exhibitions Asia, the World Travel Fair has established itself as China's leading international consumer and trade fair for outbound tourism and has now become one of the world's best fairs to promote tourist destinations and meet potential business partners and decision makers.
During the fair, exhibitors showcase their tourism products and services, attracting Chinese visitors and the world's leading international and domestic tourism professionals. During the fourth edition of the World Travel Fair (WTF), held from March 22nd till March 25th, 2007 in the Shanghai Exhibition Center, travel officials from across the globe and high-income consumers from the Greater Shanghai Region visited over 450 exhibits from 51 countries and regions. The exhibition area of 10,000 square meters displayed top destinations, products and services of the tourism industry and attracted over 28,600 visitors, among them 4,080 trade visitors. In addition to impressive pavilions displaying tourism products and destinations, the major highlights of WTF were the hosted buyer program with 150 hosted buyers mainly representing outbound travel agencies from the Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou regions and the Outbound Tourism Forum (OTF). OTF, which was held on the first day of the show, discussed future trends of the Chinese outbound tourism market. Speakers at OTF included those from the Pacific Asia Travel Association, the UN World Tourism Organization and AC Nielsen.
The WTF has become the ultimate business-to-business platform to generate new sales leads, explore new business opportunities, strengthen existing business partnerships and introduce and promote new products and services in the rapidly expanding Chinese outbound travel market.
