Established with the approval of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the SEC is an economic entity specializing in offering large-scale conferences and exhibition services. The Shanghai Exhibition Center has exhibition hall space totaling 22,000 square meters and each of the exhibition halls can be used independently or collectively for a unified purpose. The SEC boasts an experienced and professional team of dedicated staff who offer various services in booth design, installation and maintenance, as well as on-the-spot management.
Since its establishment in 1995, the SEC has been the venue for quite a number of important political events, where CCP leaders attend meetings and where China hosts many heads of states from foreign countries, as well as being a meeting place for the Shanghai People's Congress, a host facility for the Spring Festival Celebration and the National Day Reception.
Architecturally, the SEC is blessed with unique characteristic. With its magnificent and elegant Russian style and exquisitely graceful decor, the SEC was awarded the title of one of ''Shanghai' s Ten Best Architectural Designs for the period 1949-1989''.
