Description

The May 4th Square was built to commemorate the May 4th, 1919 Movement, a social and political reform campaign inspired by Chen Duxiu. The main trigger for the May 4th Movement was the Versailles Treaty, which transferred Germany's Chinese colonial territories (including Qingdao) to Japan. Located between the new Municipal Government building and the bay, the square comprises the Shizhengting Square, the central square and the coastal park.
