The Xikou Xuedou Mountains have been famous since the Han Dynasty as a scenic retreat and was dreamt about by Song Dynasty Emperor Ren Zong, earning it the nickname Dreamed Mountain. It was named one of the five most important mountains to the Buddhist faith by the director of the China Buddhist Association in 1984 and has been declared a state forest park. The area is comprised of Xikou (Brook Mouth) Town, Xuedou (Snow Hole) Mountains and Tingxia (Below the Pavilion) Lake, as well as pine and bamboo forests.
Key attractions at the mountain include the Former Residence of Chiang Kai-shek, Fenggao House, Small Western House, Yutai Salt Shop, Wenchang Pavilion, Wuling Gate, Xufu Rock, Sanyin Pond, Miaogao Terrace, Qianzhang (Thousand-yard) Rock & Waterfall and Pavilion of Imperial Inscription. Tingxia Lake is one of the prettiest areas on the mountain, though not the largest lake on the mountain.
Getting There: Take a bus from Xikou South Bus Station: journey takes half an hour, and costs RMB7.
