Having led the 1911 revolution that put an end to the feudal system in China, Sun is fondly and respectfully known as the Father of Modern China, and the Founder of the Republic of China. He was born in Guangdong, and he died in Beijing, but it was Dr. Sun Yat-sen's wish that Nanjing be his final resting place.
