Description

Located about 15 km northwest of Kunming, this intriguing temple was built during the Tang Dynasty to honor the apparition of two Buddhist monks. The temple has 500 clay arhats (enlightened beings) that date back to the late 1800s. Renowned Chinese sculptor Li Guangxiu completed all of them in just seven years. The temple is also the home to the Four Guardian Kings, couplets dating back to the 1200s and three large gilded Buddhas in the Main Hall.
