Description

On the northern bank of the Li River, is the ancient town of Daxu. The history of the town goes back to the Qin Dynasty, although most of the architecture dates from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The cobbled main street, lined with old residences, shops and stalls, runs two kilometers along the river bank through the town. Some of the shop fronts conceal old residences, which were once the dwelling places of merchants. The town is a good place to try local Guilin snacks, available from street stalls.

Getting there: Daxu is one of the sights on the Guilin-Yangshuo river cruise, and is also accessible by bus tour.
