Known for its fine scenery and stone carvings, Diecai Hill is one of the most popular attractions in Guilin. ''Diecai'' means ''folded brocade,'' the name reflecting the way in which the hill' s rock formations are piled layer on layer, similar to folded silk. The climb to the top of Bright Moon Peak takes you past some of the most important features of Diecai Hill. The first is Diecai Pavilion, which is a very good example of Chinese traditional architecture. Further up the path lies the Wind Cave, notable for its rock carvings and inscriptions dating back to the Tang (618-907) and Song (960-1279) dynasties. At the top of Bright Moon Peak (223 meters, or 732 feet high) you will find the Cloud-Catching Pavilion and can admire the views of Guilin and the immediate area, including the nearby Solitary Beauty Peak and Fubo Hill. Other places worth visiting at Diecai Hill include Yuyue Pavilion, Huanbi Garden and Wood Dragon Cave.
