Description

Jingyuetan National Forest Park is named after the large crescent lake at its centre, which is often compared with Riyue (Sun and Moon) Pond in Taiwan. Boats from the lake can take tourists to the entrance of most major destinations within the park. As with many parks in China, the Jingyuetan National Forest Park is split into several areas, each with its own theme, and throughout the year, different parts of the park have their moments of glory.

In summer, the man-made bathing beach at Jingyuetan National Forest Park is the best place to come for boating, beach volleyball and sunbathing. It can accommodate anything up to 3000 people, and is the largest beach of its kind in the entire Jilin province.

Nearly one thousand spotted deer call the Deer Park home, as do numerous Xinjiang reindeer. This beautiful wooded area is popular during autumn, but in the snowy winter months, it's a great place to come to spot "Santa's little helpers " after a visit to the Christmas Park, bizarrely billed as "the hometown of Santa Claus". The architecture and foliage in Christmas Park has a European flavor, as do the cartoon characters dotted around for younger visitor's amusement.

Jingyuetan Skiing Resort prides itself on being the best place to ski in the northeast of China, and has recently begun to host the China Changchun Vasaloppet Cross Country Skiing Competition (Vasaloppet China). In winter the park also hosts the Changchun Ice and Snow Tourism Festival with activities like skating and skiing on the menu.

Animal lovers shouldn't miss the Jilin Provincial Siberian Tiger Park. Siberian tigers, African lions, bears, Sika deer, mouflons, red-crested cranes numerous other rare or endangered animals live and breed in this area.
