The showpiece of China food and beverage empire South Beauty, Lan Club is a visual spectacle and a wallet-shrinking proclamation of Beijing's arrival on the global glitterati circuit. Designed by Philippe Starck, the dark and lush interior is a Versace-gilded Mad Hatter's lair complete with mismatched oversized Victorian couches, black chandeliers, and strange objects displayed in jars.
