The first foreign language library for children is on the eve of Children’s Day in Haidian District, Beijing. The new library, which is located in Haidian Children’s Palace (海淀少年宫), occupies a floor space of over 80 square metres and contains over 2000 English language books. Although the library is mainly targeted towards young Chinese families wishing to encourage their children to learn more English and improve their foreign language skills, the library is also a great resource for children of all nationalities who want to read something other than Chinese books. Parents struggling to encourage their youngsters to read more instead of idly watching TV or playing video games, this may just be the calling you’ve been waiting for!
