Description

The woodland of Suyukou National Forest Park is made up of Chinese pines, Mongolian almonds, junipers and spruces stretching miles through flowering cloves and cherry trees. It sits within the Helan Mountain range, about 50 kilometers from Yinchuan city, encompassing valleys, rivers and ravines within its wild scenery. A cable car from the base of Helan Mountain will take you up to beautiful Qingsong Mountain from which vantage point the mountain range drops away to both sides. The gentle breeze pushes clouds over peaks which seem to change and shimmer beneath blankets of mist.

At the start of spring, a 2 kilometer stretch known as Cherry Valley comes into bloom, when a variety of trees including peach and the eponymous cherry's fragrant blossom bursts into life. Later in the year the trees sprout fruit which visitors can enjoy in the balmy summer heat. Other sites in the park such as ''A Gleam of Sky'', ''Double Lion Peak'' and ''Flying over Stone'' display an astonishing display of natural jewels in the crown of Helan Mountain.

Wildlife abounds in Yinchuan Suyukou Forest Park. Visitors with a keen eye will spot red deer, blue sheep and playful blue eared pheasants among the many species that call the mountain home.

Getting there: buses to Suyukou forest park leave Yinchuan Nanmen Bus Station and Yinchuan Toutist Bus Station frequently.
