Description

Mount Li Shan, Black Horse Mountain, is known for its horse-like shape and is located on the north side of Mount Qinling whose highest peak reaches 1,256 meters (4121 feet) above sea level. The mountain first became an imperial resort during the Tang Dynasty and served well throughout the centuries. Although many emperors would claim that they had climbed the mountain, it took little effort on their part, since they were carried in their sedan chairs. Visitors to the mountain appreciate the fragrant cypress and pine on its slopes and the serene surroundings.

Those who choose to walk up the mountain rather than take the cable car have numerous stops to catch their breath, including visits to Banhu Stone, Forced Demonstration Pavilion and Sunset Pavilion all, which are all en-route to the legendary Laojun Temple – where Emperor Xuanzong swore everlasting devotion to his concubine, Lady Yang Guifei. Laojun Temple offers a great panoramic view of the Xi'an area.

After a long hike, travelers can relax at Huangqing Hot Springs (huanqing chi), located at the foot of the mountain.

Getting there:Travelers can reach this destination via The Green Bus Eastern. The Green bus departs from the Bell Tower at regular intervals. The bus stops at the foot of the mountain and passengers can be dropped off and picked.
