Description

When Fan Li left office as Prime Minister of the Yue state between 770 BC and 476 BC, he decided to live out his life in quiet isolation with his wife Xi Shi, who was one of the four most beautiful women in ancient China. He chose to move to Qingqi Village and the area now known as Li Garden, which was named after him. The garden is surrounded on three sides by the twisting banks of Li Lake, where Fan Li enjoyed boating with his wife and visitors can still boat today.

The garden is divided into three sections: a landscaped section of hills and rocky paths is flanked by a further two areas where pavilions, corridors and rockeries have been built and carefully planted with fragrant blossoming plants.

Among the structures in the garden are the Four Seasons Pavilions planted according to the season when the flowers bloom to ensure that at any time of the year, visitors can enjoy a perfect view.

Lotus exhibitions are held between June and September, and night tours of the gardens run between July and September.
