Fans of the first Gourmet Café (455 Shanxi Bei Lu, near Beijing Xi Lu ) are unlikely to be disappointed with this new offering, the location of which – in the swanky Shanghai center – speaks volumes about their success to date: amazing what a bit of prime meat will do for you. One of the best mid-range meal options in town, Gourmet Café specialize in burgers – dozens of combinations, paired with imported goodies like fresh mozzarella and avocado – and milkshakes. This time they’ve introduced a (slightly more expensive) evening menu alongside the billion burgers, there’s a particularly nice terrace facing on to Nanjing Road, and happy hour runs from 6-8pm on weekdays.
