If you want to enjoy traditional Chinese music in a unique environment, untainted by the urban noise, Bandu Cafe is the place for you. Situated in the Moganshan Art District, this cafe offers concerts performed by young virtuoso artists - Chinese, as well as foreigners - playing music that you've never heard before.The concert nights are hosted by the composer Liu Xing, who provides a relaxed atmosphere by engaging the performers into a dialogue about the musician's background, their instruments - like pipa, erhu, guzheng, ruan - and introducing the musicians's style. These conversations are held in Chinese, so make sure to bring your Chinese friend along with you. If, like many others, you have fallen in love with Bandu, and would wish to revive the unique atmosphere as you please, you can also buy one of many Bandu Records available at the cafe.The friendly staff will always help you with any possible questions, and for a nice intro to the evening, stop by early for a delicious meal; even their food is a work of art!
