There are already a couple of fondue places dotted around Shanghai, but we can't believe it's taken this long for raclette to arrive. Newly opened Chalet Suisse comes up trumps, offering raclette (a slab of cheese melted under a heat lamp then eaten with pickles and potatoes) along with Swiss meats, sausages, salads, and fondue. The décor is kitschly authentic – wood panelled walls, photos and paintings of Switzerland, and the Swiss manager and his Chinese wife will make sure you feel welcome. Next door there's a bakery and imported goods shop, so you can stock up on home comforts after your meal!
