Cuihu Park (Cuihu Gongyuan) [翠湖公园]

Large View

Description

On the western slopes of Wuhua Mountain is the revered Cuihu Park – the Jade of Kunming. The park is packed with willow trees and other verdant foliage that provide shade from the summer sun. Two long dykes divide its lotus-strewn lake into four parts. The park is home to two impressive traditional Chinese structures, the Huxin Pavilion and the Fish-View Tower. This park provides refuge to a number of migratory red-billed gulls in the winter and spring months. Locals and visitors alike admire the area as a place where humanity, birds, and nature coexist in harmony. Local groups often put on short Chinese opera acts, with live music.
