Description

Shandong Provincial Museum is seated at the foot of Thousand Buddha Hill displaying a diverse collection of works illustrating the history of Shandong Province and the ancient states of Qi and Lu that preceded it.

Over 140,000 pieces are exhibited here, including traditional Longshan black eggshell pottery which has been a part of the cultural crafts in this area for 4,000 years. Sculptures from the Western Han

, Eastern Han and Han Dynasties are exhibited alongside prehistoric fossil specimens found in the surrounding mountains. Other treasures include oracles, seals, calligraphy and books from the Han Dynasty. There are several exhibitions, including several exhibitions on ancient religious beliefs:Shang Dynasty

gods, Zhou Dynasty ancestor worship, and Han Dynasty culture.
