Description

Located in Dameng Mountain by West Lake Park, Fuzhou Zoo was set up in 1956 to house a variety of animals, each within their own areas including elephant hall, lion & tiger mountain, hippo pool, bear mountain and the orangutan house There are 1000 animals from around 100 species living in the Zoo, many of which are endangered or rare, such as the Red-Crowned Crane, the black swan, golden monkeys and Manchurian Tigers.

Numerous entertainment and service facilities can be found here, including a children's amusement park, and a pretty pavilion. As a non-profit institution, Fuzhou Zoo is an important base for wild animal protection and education as well as being a beautiful garden for sightseeing.

The zoo has outgrown its current location and will be will be moved from its current location in late 2007 to Xindian Town in the Jin'an District of Fuzhou, when it will integrate with Fuzhou Panda World which is also moving to the new site.
