The Dazu Rock Carvings, a major historical and cultural attraction, are a series of over 50,000 religious sculptures and carvings in 75 sites on the hillsides of Dazu County. The carvings date as far back as the seventh century AD, and reflect Buddhist, Confucian and Taoist influences. The most important sites are on Mount Baoding and Mount Beishan. In 1999, UNESCO added the Dazu Rock Carvings to the World Heritage List.

Getting There: several buses from Chongqing West Bus Station take visitors to Dazu. From Dazu County, hire a rickshaw (RMB 2) to the Short-Distance Bus Station and take a bus to the Baodingshan (RMB 3) to the Dazu Rock Carvings.
