This resort is more of a trek from Changchun, 140 km from the city to be precise. However, as Asia’s first professional ski slope of international standard, venturing out further from the city to Beidahu Ski Resort is definitely worth it. This resort was the site of the 2007 Asian Winter Games and is an important training centre for China’s professional winter sports teams.
The resort covers an area of 17.5 metres, with nine mountain peaks and at an altitude of 1200 metres above sea level. While the mountain offers a wide choice of trails and slopes, such as alpine ski trails, cross-country trails and ski jumping platforms, its main attractions however are geared towards skiers of intermediate or advanced level. The intermediate mountain is served by a multi chair life system, while the steeper mountain is served by a single gondola. Overall, the resort boasts 6 slopes ranging from 20-60 metres in width, slopes ranging from 32-7 degrees, ten snow making machines, a training centre and top quality equipment and facilities. Since the resort is quite a distance from Changchun, you may want to consider staying at the resort overnight. A lodging that has 600 rooms available is set at the foot of the mountain. The lodging is also equipped with top class facilities including a gym, KTV, restaurant, cafe, shower centre, shops etc.
