For several years, the Courtyard rode unchallenged ahead of the pack in the Beijing fine dining stakes. Now it has competition left and right and can expect diners to ask some tough questions when the eye-popping bill arrives. That said, the CourtYard is still a class act, with marvelous views of the Forbidden City if you can get the right table, an excellent fusion menu and a wine list that's second to none. The art gallery downstairs adds an extra layer of je ne sais quois.
