This must be one of the cutest coziest bars in Beijing. Located right next to the drum tower in Gulou, it’s small and mostly visited by the locals, due to it’s hidden location. There’s no dance floor or anything nightclub like, it’s decorated in a very bohemian way inside and it uses wood as the main element in creating atmosphere. Drinks are nothing special and quite expensive, cocktails such as Pina Coladas can be quite inadequate and gin tonic was small compared to its price. If you like sweet drinks though try Snowball, it was one of their best and most interesting cocktails. No one who goes to Jiangjinjiu cares about the drinks though, since the bar hosts wonderful live music performances and sometimes sketches and acting too. When there’s something going on the atmosphere is fantastic, when there’s no performances even during the weekends it can get very quiet which is perfect for calm chill out night with some friends and classical music in the background. If you’re after some intimate folkie live music check the website to see what’s on before going, also useful to know that on July there’s nothing going on.
