The Silk Road represents discovery, adventure and cultural exchange between civilizations across the continent of Asia. The Xinjiang Silk Road Museum aims to capture some of the magic and pass on to new generations the history of this extraordinary trade route.
The museum communicates its message through sculpture, fresco, relics found along the Silk Route and panoramic depictions of the Route. It has areas featuring exhibitions from the Han and Tang Dynasties as well as the ancient Khitan kingdom. The great artistry of silk-making is also explored, as is rock painting and other ethnic arts of the area.
