Located in the eastern suburbs of Nanjing, this national-level botanical garden was built in 1929 in memory of Sun Yat-sen. Covering an area of 1.86sqkm, the garden proper contains verdant hills studded with exotic vegetation and azure lakes. It displays more than 3,000 species of central and northern subtropical Chinese flora, and its herbarium contains some 700,000 specimens. The Nanjing Botanical Garden also boasts a comprehensive range of facilities including exhibitions and educational and research centers.
