Description

Xuanwu Lake lies just outside the northeast city wall. A navy barracks once existed on its shores, and the lake has historically served as a recreation center for the local elite. At the end of the Qing Dynasty , this area was converted into a national park. The park occupies more than four square kilometers surrounding a lake. Legend has it that the Chinese god of water, a black dragon, once occupied the lake. Hence it gets its name.
