Despite its name, Leisure Ford (Xiaoyao jin) is known as the site of a famous battle in the Eastern Han Dynasty, when a courageous general used a surprise attack to defeat a far larger force and so saved Hefei from capture. Nowadays the park is mainly of interest to students of Chinese history and to botanists. The western corner features bonsai and rare Chinese plants, as well as reproductions of traditional Chinese architecture. Three islets on the lake hold a statue of the victorious general.
