Description

Yuexiu Park is the largest park in Guangzhou, located a kilometer southeast of Guangzhou Railway Station. The park includes some pleasant artificial lakes and a large swimming pool. The most notable attractions in the park are the Zhenhai Tower and the Sculpture of the Five Rams.

Zhenhai Tower is the last remnant of the old Guangzhou city walls. Dating from the Ming dynasty, it has good views of the city and it houses the Guangzhou Museum. The Sculpture of the Five Rams was erected in 1959 to pay tribute to a local legend that long ago five immortals riding on rams bestowed prosperity on the city.

The park is extremely popular with locals because of its cool greenery and fragrant flowers: it is the site of the annual Spring Festival Flower Fair. Visitors are also drawn by the tranquil lakes, amusement park, swimming pool, gymnasium, restaurants, and stalls selling a variety of snacks and souvenirs.
