You'll pay American prices for Chinese service-- including the used-car-salesman atmosphere.
I went in with chronically swollen lymph nodes and a high fever. I asked /specifically/ for diagnostic
tests (STDs blood tests, saliva bacterial cultures) and they seemed confused. I left RMB700 poorer with a
recommendation to drink hot water. They also tried to sell me asprin for RMB 200. When it came time to pay,
I had the nurse/receptionist, doctor AND pharmacist all over my back trying to make sure I had enough money/
trying to upsell me.
The staff speak conversational, but not medical English.
On the plus side, there's no wait! Because they don't have customers.
If you're looking for Western service, United Family is the only way to go. If you don't need Western service,
Guangzhou has many fine public hospitals with RMB5, not RMB700, consultation fees.
