Grandma’s Kitchen used to be the best Western restaurant in China. The menu was chock full of home recipes and Texas-style dishes that were unique in China as well as authentic, hardy, and delicious. But the new owners have ruined it. Theyve turned it into just another run-of-the-mill Chinese “Western” restaurant. It no longer has the homestyle cuisine or the Texas items on the menu, and the quality of the meals has seriously declined. The breakfast I had recently was very disappointing. Instead of real breakfast sausage like the old Grandmas used to serve, they now serve hotdogs which they lie about on the menu by calling "breakfast sausage". Do they think expats are so stupid we dont know our own food? And they no longer serve real home fries or hash browns. They serve these frozen potato-based oily triangles. My breakfast was missing the biscuit as well the explanation as to why it was missing. Though when i complained, the staff did take care of me with a slice of apple pie, which is still delicious. If you crave Western food in China, Grandmas will give you as good a fix as any standard "Western" restaurant in China. But if you remember the old Grandmas, avoid this place and avoid the disappointment. It aint what it used to be.
