Description

The Red Brick Museum of Contemporary Art is a folk-based, non-profit art museum focused on the collection, research and exhibition of contemporary world and Chinese art, which strives to promote the exchange and development of contemporary art in China and around the world. Rooted in the contemporary, we will use a globalized perspective to understand and discover the contemporary art phenomena and results of China and the world, observing the most valuable spiritual creations in the contemporary world with open minds, and engaging in academic research and practice in contemporary art with pure and rational methods, building a cultural exchange platform with international standards. While engaging in the research, exhibition and promotion of Chinese and global contemporary art, we will also take an active role in the construction of China’s contemporary art ecosystem, promoting, to the best of our abilities, healthy interaction between Chinese and international artists, art organizations and art events for a flourishing future. Meanwhile, we will use exhibitions, collections, research, public discussions and open art education methods to actively build bridges between contemporary art and the public, turning the art museum into a public space that benefits all members of society. Located in Beijing’s 1 Art Base – the “Silicon Valley of Chinese art” – the Red Brick Museum of Contemporary Art is designed by famous architect Dong Yugan. The complex is fresh, unique and beautiful. Set in a serene environment, the museum is neighbors with the famous 798, Huantie and Jiuchang art districts, making for a lively artistic setting. The complex has a total area of 10,000 square meters, including seven exhibition areas, one office area and a reception area. The complex will have facilities for exhibitions, academic research, art education, collection, storage, appraisal, publications, art websites, a promotional platform, document and image center, art document collection and digitization, art salons and an art bookstore. It is an ideal public space for art, culture and relaxation, a place for inter- action between artists, art professionals and the public.
