Description

Built during the Southern Liang period, this temple has been around for over 1500 years. It is famous for its large size and design. The most important structure at the temple is the Shuanglin Iron Tower, built in 952. The tower has eight facades, and its original five floors rose to an impressive 25m. Today, only two floors remain, the tower having endured wars and destruction, though they are no les impressive, being intricately sculpted and built in traditional Buddhist style. It is a unique example of ancient metalworking technology and innovation.
