Description

The Hengdian Film Studio was dubbed "Chinawood" by the Hollywood Reporter after Zhang Yimou shot his epic movie "Hero" here.

The mountainous location provides stunning natural backdrops to the large sets which have been carefully constructed to provide an accurate reflection of their respective time periods. The largest and most comprehensive of the sets open to the public include the Qin Emperor Palace which was built for Chen Kaige's "The Emperor and the Assassin" and is a re-creation of the palace of the First Emperor. There is also a re-creation of a typical riverside town in southern China and Ming

and QingDynasty Palaces. The "Qing Ming Shang He Tu" area is a depiction of the famous Chinese painting, "Going Upriver During Spring Festival" by Zhang Zeduan of the Northern Song Dynasty

(960-1127 AD), illustrating the delicate, beautiful scenery around the "Jiangnan" area over a thousand years ago.

Take bus heading to Hengdian at Yiwu Jiangdong Passenger Station.
