Description

Xi'an is considered one of the only Chinese cities with a well-maintained and standing city wall. The city walls here were actually built on the fortifications of the Tang Dynasty Forbidden City. Originally, military defense facilities were including in the four major corners of the city wall, with 3 major towers in each corner (a watchtower, defensive tower and an ammunition tower).

Many travelers marvel at the 12 m – 14 m high with a width of 12 m to 14 m at the top. Although the 14 km wall does not stretch around the entire city, there are a number of ramps where travelers can ascend to the top of the wall.

Entrance location: (East of the railway station and at the south gate adjacent to the Provincial Museum)
