Located at 47 Youhao Beilu, the center of the city, Urumqi Children's Park has an area of 200,000 square meters and is aimed at families looking for a picturesque place to visit in the heart of Urumqi. It was established in 1981 and renamed as children' s park in 1987. Over 60 amusement facilities and an exciting array of plant life (including 200 varieties of trees) await visitors.
In recent years, it has held many large-scale activities including cultural and art exhibitions, flower exhibitions, May Day festivals and the National Day Holiday celebrations. On festival days there are huge parties and performances, including dances, singing, puppet shows, and displays of circus-skills. It also holds lantern and flower exhibitions from May to October.
