The vast Northern Mausoleum Park, is situated in northern Shenyang, where visitors can explore the mausoleum of Huang Taiji, the founder of the Qing Dynasty , and his wife Xiao Duan Wen Borjijite. Visitors approach Huany Taiji's burial mound along a long pathway, flanked by marble elephants, lions and two horses, said to be exact replicas of the man's favorite horses.
The area around the Mausoleum is dotted with numerous gardens, paths and lakes as well as pavilions, halls and towers. Local residents enjoy coming to the park at all times of the year: in winter, visitors ice-skate on the frozen lake, while in summer they fly kites and practice Tai Chi.
