Nanshan Cultural Excursion Zone sits on Nanshan Mountain to the south of Sanya, looked over by a statue representing the Bodhisattva of mercy, which rises over 100 meters above the sea. The mountain represents longevity in Chinese mythology and currently there are three areas on the mountain representing Chinese culture.
The Buddhism Culture Park revels in China's long history of Buddhism and is a physical demonstration of the themes of peace and harmony on which the religion is based.
The four-sided statue of Buddha is one of the highlights of any trip to the Cultural Customs Park which also houses the golden-jade Goddess of Mercy. Gardens representing both traditional western and Chinese planting should not be missed.
China's felicity and longevity culture park, the third part of this huge zone, is designed to reflect the core of Chinese traditional values, stressing the importance of peace, happiness and good fortune.
