Description

This fascinating but disturbing museum was originally constructed in 1985 in memory of the 300,000 civilians and unarmed soldiers systematically slaughtered by Japanese invaders from December 13, 1937 in an episode known as the Nanjing Massacre. The museum also serves as an educational institution that provides information about the Nanjing Massacre in sometimes graphic form. Sensitive visitors should proceed with caution. The museum also displays the furniture that was used during the signing of the Japanese surrender. The exhibit concludes with documentation of the Sino-Japanese reconciliation talks in 1945.
