The China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, is held twice a year in spring and autumn. It is China's largest trade fair and a comprehensive and multi-functional event of international importance.
Fifty Trade Delegations, composed of thousands of China's best foreign trade corporations (enterprises) with market credibility and sound financial capabilities, take part in the Fair, including foreign trade companies, factories, scientific research institutions, foreign invested enterprises, wholly foreign-owned enterprises and private enterprises.
Besides the traditional way of negotiating with hands-on samples, the Fair holds an online version. The Fair leans towards export trade, though import business is also done here. Various activities such as economic and technical cooperation exchanges, commodities inspection, insurance, transportation, advertising and consultations are also promoted and held. Business people from all over the world gather in Guangzhou, exchanging business information and developing friendships.
The 102nd Canton Fair will be held in Guangzhou in October 2007. The 101st fair, had 31,682 standard booths and covered space of 285,000 square meters, with 206,749 attendees.
