Chongqing's main train station is located in Caiyuanba, next to the long-distance bus station. From this station direct trains to cities all over China can be caught, such as Beijing (25 hrs), Shanghai (39 hrs), Xian (15 hrs), and Chengdu (10 hrs). The Chengdu-Chongqing, Xiangfan-Chongqing, Guiyang-Chongqing, Dachuan-Wanzhou, Chongqing-Huaihua, Wanzhou-Yichang, Chongqing-Suining and Chongqing-Lanzhou (now under construction) lines all link to the national rail system.
Visitors should buy tickets in advance wherever possible which can be done through most major hotels and a large number of ticketing offices throughout the city.
