Chaotian Gate is the best vantage point in Chongqing to see the confluence of two great rivers - the Yangtze River and the Jialing. It is located in the northeast of Chongqing, and is surrounded by rocky mountains on three sides. The newly built Chaotian Gate Square is the best place to get an undisturbed view of the landscape of this metropolis and its neighboring sites. To the left of the Gate, one can see the point where the Jialing River meets the Yangtze. In the warmer months the water of the Yangtze is yellow, and the contrast with the clearer water of the Jialing is a striking sight where the two rivers meet.
Travelers coming to the area after 8 p.m. can enjoy floating along the river on one of the many yacht excursions. This is a great way to see Chongqing, and enjoy the glow of the lights on the river.
